Trial Of Post-Radiation Chemotherapy In Patients With Newly Diagnosed Ependymoma

Brief description of study

If your child has been newly diagnosed with ependymoma, he/she may qualify to participate in a clinical trial studying how well maintenance chemotherapy after radiation therapy prolongs how long you live without return of your tumor and how long you live overall. Purpose The goal of the study is to find out how long you live without return of your tumor, called event free survival (EFS) and how long you live, called overall survival (OS) of children with completely surgicaly removed ependymoma treated with postoperative conformal radiation therapy (cRT) and then randomized (like the flip of a coin) to receive or not receive four cycles of post radiation maintenance chemotherapy with vincristine, cisplatin, etoposide and cyclophosphamide (VCEC).
