Experiences with New Digital Surgical Drainage System in Thoracic Surgery

Brief description of study

The purpose of this protocol is to evaluate new post-operative drainage system for chest surgery. The Thoraguard Surgical Drainage System is being tested to see if it has comparable drainage capability as the standard drainage system currently being used for surgical drainage. It is believed that this system will offer functional benefits over the current standard of care system and these benefits will be evaluated. Such benefits include clog prevention, accurate tracking of fluid output, suction control, and safety alarms. The treating surgeon will select the chest tube at their discretion (which may be a Thoraguard Chest Tube) and connect to the Thoraguard Drainage Kit and Control module. This system has been cleared for use by the US Food and Drug Administration.
