Risk factors for sudden unexplained death in epilepsy (SUDEP)

Are you eligible to participate in this study?

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

Conditions:
Epilepsy
Age: Between 0 Year(s) - 100 Year(s)
Gender: Male or Female

Other Inclusion Criteria:
1. Subjects diagnosed with epilepsy whose cause of death was sudden and unexplained
2. Subjects whose families are willing to participate
3. For the control group, any patient diagnosed with epilepsy currently in the care of the NYU Comprehensive Epilepsy Center, willing and able to participate in the study.

You may not be eligible for this study if the following are true:

1. Subjects with no known history of epilepsy or seizures
2. Subjects not an immediate family member of a decedent enrolled in the study whose cause of death has been determined as SUDEP and the decedents DNA was successfully extracted and analyzed
