A Multicenter Longitudinal Digital Assessment Study of Parkinson Disease Progression in Subjects with Early Untreated Parkinson Disease

Brief description of study

The main goal of this study is to compare the ability of measurements obtained from wearable digital devices (including sensors, smart phones and smart watches) with traditional clinic exams and questionnaires to measure progressive changes in movement, thinking (cognition), and mood, activities of daily living and quality of life in individuals with early, untreated PD over a one-year period. It will also assess if it is possible to use and manage these devices effectively away from the clinic setting (e.g., at home). In order to understand if treatments for slowing the progression of PD work, there must have accurate ways to measure small changes in PD related to movement, thinking (cognition) and mood. The sensors being evaluating in this study are Opal sensors, the iPhone and Apple Watch, and an app called WATCH Parkinson’s Disease. Information from activities completed from both during clinic visits and outside the clinic to assess your movement, thinking, activities of daily living and quality of life with standard clinical evaluations will be compared.
