Peripheral IntraVenous Analysis (PIVA) compared with intermittent pulmonary capillary wedge pressure (PCWP); in patients undergoing elective right heart catheterization

Brief description of study

This is a research study to test a new investigational device. PIVA is intended to aid in the assessment of a patient’s intravascular volume status by estimating noninvasively, end-expiratory pulmonary capillary wedge pressure (PCWP). This estimate and its trended value over time, when used along with clinical signs and symptoms and other patient test results, can aid in the process of reaching a diagnosis and formulating a therapeutic plan when abnormalities of intravascular volume are suspected. PIVA is also intended to continuously estimate pulse rate and for infusing solutions. PIVA is intended for use on adult patients in hospitals and hospital-type facilities.
