A Randomized Controlled Trial of Regional versus General Anesthesia for Promoting Independence After Hip Fracture (REGAIN Trial)

Brief description of study

The purpose of this research study is to assess the differences between two types of standard care anesthesia (listed below) because it is not known whether these two types of anesthesia are the same or if one is better for people who have hip fractures. In particular, quality of walking after surgery, overall health and quality of life, how well anesthesia was tolerated, and healthcare practice for the two types of anesthesia will be examined.
