Are you eligible to participate in this study?

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

• Conditions:
  Covid-19
• Age: Between 18 - 110 Years
• Gender: Male or Female

• Other Inclusion Criteria:
  

  Registry Study:

  1. Participants who are 18 years old or older
  2. Participants hospitalized at one of the participating NYULH locations
  3. Participants confirmed COVID-19 infection

  Intervention Study:

  1. Participants who are 18 years old or older
  2. Participants hospitalized at one of the participating NYULH locations
  3. Participants confirmed COVID-19 infection
  4. Hospitalized at NYU Tisch
  5. Participants with history of diabetes mellitus or blood glucose measurement >126 mg/dl
  AND EITHER
  6. Participants have a history of hypertension and/or ischemic heart disease and/or heart failure
  OR
  7. Other co-morbid condition that in the opinion of the PI increases risk of heart or lung injury related to the aldose reductase pathway

  
  

You may not be eligible for this study if the following are true:

• Registry Study:

  1. Participants who opted out of research participation at NYU
  2. Participants who are pregnant

  Intervention Study:

  1. Participants who opted out of research participation at NYU
  2. Participants who are pregnant or breast-feeding
  3. Women of childbearing potential
  4. Participants who have participated in another investigational drug protocol within previous 30 days
