Feasibility of Remote Patient-Administered Lung Ultrasound in Heart Failure and Correlation with Pulmonary Artery Pressure Obtained via Remote Pulmonary Artery Pressure Monitoring

Brief description of study

Heart failure patients are frequently readmitted to the hospital as a result of symptomatic congestion, the accumulation of fluid in the lungs as well as other parts of the body. This is caused by elevated pressures in the heart. Implantable devices that measure the pressures within the heart, such as CardioMEMs, are commonly used in clinical practice to detect such elevations and remotely transmit data to clinicians to guide changes to therapy by phone. This study will examine whether lung ultrasound self-administered by patients at home can be used instead. Butterfly iQ ultrasound system and associated mobile phone application (app) will be used in this study.
