Serologic Testing and Genomic Analysis of Autoimmune ImmuneMediated and Rheumatic Patients with COVID-19 (SAGA)

Brief description of study

The purpose of this study is to obtain blood samples and nasal swab samples of patients with autoimmune and inflammatory diseases to see if certain factors affect formation of antibodies against SARS-CoV-2, the virus causing COVID-19. Antibodies are proteins of the immune system that form against foreign invaders in the body (such as viruses). This study also aims to look at genes that might influence patients’ risk for developing COVID-19 and having severe disease. DNA is the material that makes up your genes. All living things are made of cells. Genes are the part of cells that contain the instructions which tell our bodies how to grow and work, and determine physical characteristics such as hair and eye color. Genes are passed from parent to child.
