Gut Microbiome in Food Protein-Induced Enterocolitis Syndrome: An Observational Study

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

Age: Between 0 Month(s) - 12 Month(s)

Gender: Male or Female

Other Inclusion Criteria:
FPIES subjects:- History of a delayed repetitive vomiting and / or diarrhea within 1-4 hours without any other cause for the symptoms following the ingestion of the incriminated food or history of chronic diarrhea with mucous and / or blood, chronic vomiting, failure to thrive that resolved with the avoidance of the incriminated food
- Symptoms limited to the gastrointestinal tract
- Diagnosis of FPIES confirmed by physician
- History of immediate (within 1-2 hours of food ingestion) convincing allergic symptoms such as hives, eczematous skin rashes, angioedema, rhinorrhea, hoarseness, cough, wheezing, anaphylaxis OR
- Evidence of IgE-sensitization to foods, documented as a positive skin prick test (wheal diameter >3 mm) and or detectable food-specific serum IgE >0.10 kIU/L AND
- Physician-diagnosed IgE-mediated food allergy
- Thriving, without any atopic condition-no food allergy, no dietary restrictions, no eczema/atopic dermatitis, and no wheezing history
You may not be eligible for this study if the following are true:

- Treatment with oral antibiotics within the past 8 weeks for the infant and mother
- Supplementation with probiotics or with infant formula containing pre/probiotics within the past 8 weeks
- Supplementation with pre/probiotics within the past 8 weeks for infant’s mother
- Gestational age less than 37 weeks
- Diagnosis of a chronic disease
- Failure to thrive
