Cannabidiol for Treating PTSD symptoms and Neurocognitive Impairment in PTSD and PTSD Comorbid with TBI: A Placebo-controlled RCT with Neuralcircuit centered Precision Medicine Prediction of Response
Brief description of study
PTSD is a disorder where someone has difficulty recovering after a traumatic event. Symptoms may include nightmares or unwanted memories of the trauma, avoidance of situations that bring back memories of the trauma, heightened reactions, anxiety, or depressed mood. TBI is a type of injury affecting the brain, which may be accompanied by problems with thinking, concentration, mood, and other mental processes, as well as symptoms such as fatigue and headache. The purpose of this research study is to assess the short-term and long-term effects of cannabidiol (CBD) upon post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), as well as upon PTSD co-occuring with traumatic brain injury (TBI). The use of CBD in this study is investigational because CBD is not FDA-approved to treat PTSD and TBI.
