Understanding the Lived Experience of Couples Across the Trajectory of Dementia

Brief description of study

This multi-site, observational study will focus on the experience of older couples and the impact of Alzheimer's disease or a related dementia on health outcomes and their relationship quality. Change in the couple’s relationship, the potential causative factors that contribute to change in relationship characteristics, and the implications this change holds for well-being of each member of the couple will be evaluated. Finally, qualitative measures will be used to further explore the dynamic nature of the relationship characteristics of interest and enhance the interpretation of the results of the quantitative analyses.
