The COVID-19 Prevention Network (CoVPN) is doing a study called PreventCOVIDU to test the Moderna vaccine against SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19 illness. This study is open to both people who are willing to get the vaccine and those who choose not to get vaccinated. This study will last for 5 months and will involve up to five in-person study visits. All participants will be asked to complete daily nasal swabs and to complete daily symptom diaries on their phone. You will be compensated for all study procedures and visits. The goal of the study will see if the Moderna vaccine is able to protect people from getting infected and if getting the vaccine will affect the amount of virus that is in your nose. In addition, the study will examine whether getting the vaccine will prevent transmission or the spread of the virus to others. The study will take part at the NYU Langone Vaccine Center’s satellite sites at Long Island at Mineola, NY or at H+H Bellevue in Manhattan.
