A Natural History Study of Patients with Genetically Confirmed Primary Hyperoxaluria Type 3 with a History of Stone Events

Brief description of study

This clinical study is known as a natural history study. Natural history studies are necessary to gain information about rare diseases, and to track how they progress over time. This study is being done to collect information (data) about how kidney stones form in people with an excessive urinary excretion of oxalate or primary hyperoxaluria type 3 (PH3). The purpose of this study is to learn more about oxalate, a natural product produced by your body, which is associated with the formation of kidney stones. High amounts of oxalate can cause kidney stones and kidney damage. However, the relationship between oxalate levels in urine and the formation of kidney stones is not yet fully understood in people with PH3. Understanding more about how kidney stones form in people with PH3 will help develop new drugs and treatments in the future, which could improve the quality of life for people with PH3.
