A prospective randomized-controlled study to evaluate the effect of a standardized yoga practice on chronic back pain

Brief description of study

The purpose of this research study is to see if a 6 week program of yoga practice will be more helpful in treating chronic back pack compared to usual non-operative interventions.This study will last about 2 years and will involve about 6 outpatient visits to the study doctor who will follow the progress. This study is a randomized study which means participants will be assigned to one of the study groups and receive either the study intervention or the usual care for chronic back pain. This study will be an out-patient study. Follow up visits will be at the NYU Langone Brooklyn Medical Arts Pavilion at 8714 Fifth Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11209.
