A single-center observational study of the risk factors for development of severe bacterial infections in people who inject drugs

Brief description of study

The purpose of this study is to identify risk factors for the development of severe bacterial infections in people who inject drugs. The study will examine if there are any risk factors that would make severe bacterial infections more likely to occur in people who inject drugs. By identifying these risk factors, the researchers will be able to develop new harm reduction strategies to help prevent such infections in the future. People who inject drugs are at increased risk of developing severe bacterial infections. Currently nobody is sure what specific injection drug use behaviors may lead to the development of such infections.
