Trabecular Structure on Wrist MRI in Early Osteoporosis

Are you eligible to participate in this study?

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions:
    Osteoporosis
  • Age: Between 18 Year(s) - 100 Year(s)
  • Gender: Male or Female
  • Other Inclusion Criteria:
    For population A (high risk for fragility fracture):
    1. Individuals older than 55 years of age who have sustained a traumatic fracture after a fall from standing height or less
    2. Willing and able to provide consent
    For population B (low risk for fragility fracture):
    1. Adults patients ages 18 to 100 years old presenting to the hand clinic without a known history of osteoporosis or fragility fracture
    2. Willing and able to provide consent

You may not be eligible for this study if the following are true:

    1. Patients with osteoporosis as a secondary condition such as secondary to chronic steroid treatment, metabolic bone disease, or nutritional problem
    2. Patients without proper documentation and follow up
    3. Patients not agreeable to having a screening MRI or DXA testing
    4. Patients not able to undergo MRI scanning (claustrophobia, pacemaker, etc.)
