Are you eligible to participate in this study?

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

• Conditions:
  Unspecified Protein-energy Malnutrition
• Age: Between 55 years - 95 years
• Gender: Male or Female

• Other Inclusion Criteria:
  

  1. Participants who are current candidates for elective primary total hip and total knee arthroplasty
  2. Participants have been medically cleared and scheduled for surgery
  3. Participants who meet at least one of the criteria below:
     • Serum Albumin: less than or equal to 3.9 mg/dl
     • BMI lower than 18.5 kg/m2 and between 30 and 39.99 kg/m2

  
  

You may not be eligible for this study if the following are true:

• 1. Previous history of septic arthritis
  2. Allergy to oral supplementation
  3. Inability to consume oral supplementation
  4. Protein malabsorption syndromes
  5. Eating disorders
  6. End stage renal and hepatic disease
  7. Revision surgery, non-elective surgery, hemiarthroplasty, and unicompartmental knee arthroplasty
