Evaluating Long COVID Patients with Persistent Respiratory Symptoms for Prothrombotic Immune Responses and Pulmonary Microvascular Thrombosis Using SPECT-CT Lung Perfusion Studies

Are you eligible to participate in this study?

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions:
    Long Covid
  • Age: Between 18 years - 100 years
  • Gender: Male or Female
  • Other Inclusion Criteria:
    1. Long COVID patients who meet the clinical case definition of post COVID-19 as determined by consensus recommendations by the World Health Organization and have persistent respiratory symptoms, which include shortness of breath, dyspnea on exertion, or hypoxia at rest or upon exertion, or
    2. Healthy control patients who have a prior history of SARS-CoV-2 infection, but with resolution of symptoms and no characteristics of Long COVID
    3. Patients must be willing and able to provide informed consent

You may not be eligible for this study if the following are true:

    1. Patients with a current or past history of pulmonary thromboembolism
    2. Significant parenchymal lung disease, such as pulmonary fibrosis, ground glass opacities, or bullous lung disease, which may otherwise explain the presence of ongoing respiratory symptoms among Long COVID patients
    3. Contraindication to CT angiography or SPECT-CT lung perfusion scan, which includes pregnancy, breastfeeding, chronic kidney disease, or having a history of allergy to intravenous contrast or nuclear medicine tracer compounds
