You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

• Conditions:
  Respiratory Failure
• Age: Between 0 years - 1 years
• Gender: Male or Female

• Other Inclusion Criteria:
  

  Mothers:

  1. Mothers requiring prenatal consults due to anticipated premature delivery

  Infants:

  1. Infants requiring conventional mechanical ventilation

  
  

You may not be eligible for this study if the following are true:

• Mothers:

  1. Any mother who is anticipated to deliver an infant with a prenatal diagnosis of a congenital anomaly or genetic syndrome

  Infants:

  1. Neonate requires high frequency ventilators as a mode for invasive ventilation
  2. Neonate has any major congenital anomalies, genetic syndromes, or metabolic syndromes
  3. Neonates who are not viable or of uncertain viability based on our current clinical guidelines of infant viability (22 weeks gestation or greater)
  4. Neonate undergoes therapeutic hypothermia
  5. Neonate is out born
