A Pilot Randomized Controlled Trial of Integrated Supportive and Nephrology Care versus Usual Care

Brief description of study

The purpose of this study is to test the impact of adding a form of care known as palliative, or supportive, care to your usual nephrology care. Palliative care, also known as supportive care, is specialized medical care for patients with serious illness. Adding palliative care to the treatment team of someone facing serious kidney disease has the potential to improve quality of life and to decrease symptoms such as pain, itch, or insomnia, although this has not been formally studied.
