Pilot prospective study evaluating changes observed in splanchnic and cerebral tissue oxygenation in relation to the stored age of transfused blood in preterm infants

Are you eligible to participate in this study?

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

Conditions:
Prematurity
Age: Between 0 - 6 Years
Gender: Male or Female

Other Inclusion Criteria:
1. Subjects inborn or out born patients delivered between 25 and 31 weeks of gestational age
2. Subjects with a birth weight between 500 and 1500 grams

You may not be eligible for this study if the following are true:

1. Preterm neonates with congenital heart disease, known chromosomal abnormalities, or major malformations
2. Subject with known grade 3 or grade 4 intra-ventricular hemorrhage (IVH)
3. Subject already diagnosed with a surgical condition
4. Subject with a diagnosis of NEC (medical or surgical) or gut perforation before their first RBC transfusion
