A Pilot Study to Test the Feasibility of a Hybrid Preoperative Physical Therapy Intervention for Patients Undergoing Total Joint Arthroplasty

Are you eligible to participate in this study?

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions:
    Gonarthrosis, Unspecified
  • Age: Between 55 - 100 Years
  • Gender: Male or Female
  • Other Inclusion Criteria:
    1. Subjects are indicated for primary total knee or hip replacement surgery and is deconditioned based on the surgeon’s clinical judgement as recorded in study log
    2. Subjects falls below the median score on the HOOS/KOOS JR/PROMIS physical function and below the median score on the PROMIS Pain Interference score
    3. Subjects has access to technology to participate in telehealth

You may not be eligible for this study if the following are true:

    1. Subjects are not ambulatory
    2. Subjects are scheduled for bilateral arthroplasty or revision arthroplasty
    3. Subjects are morbidly obese (BMI >40)
    4. Subjects have a pre-existing medical condition that is contraindicated for exercise such as unstable cardiomyopathy
