NYU Managing Epilepsy Well (MEW) Study: A Randomized Controlled Trial of Telephone-Based Support for People with Epilepsy
Brief description of study
The purpose of this research study is to test two telephone-based programs for adults with epilepsy to see whether they improve mood, quality of life and seizures. This study is a randomized study. This means, like flipping a coin, participants will be assigned to one of two treatment groups. One program is UPLIFT (Using Practice and Learning to Increase Favorable Thoughts), a group-based program that teaches people with epilepsy mood self-management skills. The other program is BOOST (Bringing Out Our Strength Together), a group-based support program for people with epilepsy. There are no special requirements or criteria to be in either group. Participants will have a 50% chance of being in either group.
