Psoriatic Response and Onset: Genes Radiology Environment Skin and Synovium)

Brief description of study

Psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis are inflammatory conditions of the skin and joints affecting millions of individuals that can lead to chronic pain and deformities. The research is aimed to discover what factors lead to the development of and determine the severity of psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. The researchers intend to study the clinical, environmental, and biologic factors (such as the immune system and the role of bacteria) that contribute to the development, comorbidities, and outcomes of psoriatic disease. Samples of blood and optional imaging and collection of urine, saliva, skin swabs, stool, synovial fluid (fluid in the joint), scalp hair follicles, skin biopsies, and synovial biopsies (collection of joint tissue) will be assessed to establish differences among patients at different points in their psoriatic disease spectrum.
