DIFFIR: Geriatric DIstal Femur: FIxation versus Replacement
Brief description of study
The purpose of the study is to determine which of two types of treatment for your distal femur fracture (broken bone in the area of the leg just above the knee joint) will result in less pain and best recovery (i.e. walk faster, return to daily activities). This study is a randomized study. This means, if you choose to take part in this study, like flipping a coin, you will be assigned to one of 2 groups and either receive distal femoral replacement or surgical fixation. Both treatment methods are commonly used to treat your condition. Surgical fixation is the more common procedure performed at NYU Langone Health.
