You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

Conditions: Major Depressive Disorder

Age: Between 18 Year(s) - 65 Year(s)

Gender: Male or Female

Other Inclusion Criteria:
- Patients:
- Able to give written informed consent and follow study procedures
- Between the ages of 18 and 65
- Able to speak, read, and write English fluently in English
- Meets DSM-5 criteria for Major Depressive Disorder (MDD)
- Currently depressed
- Healthy controls:
- Able to give written informed consent and follow study procedures
- Between the ages of 18 and 65
- Able to speak, read, and write English fluently in English
You may not be eligible for this study if the following are true:

- Patients:
- Unwilling/unable to comply with study
- Patients at high risk for suicide
- DSM-5 diagnosis of Bipolar disorders, Cyclothymia, Schizoaffective disorder, Schizophrenia; any psychotic disorder or affective psychosis
- Primary anxiety disorders
- History of OCD or OCD-spectrum disorders
- DSM-5 substance use disorder (Drug/alcohol) active within the past 12 months
- Mild cognitive deficits or history of traumatic brain injury
- Clinically unstable systemic medical disorders
- History of neurological disorders affecting the brain, including any history of stroke
- Pending legal action, incarceration or other reasons that might prevent an individual from completing the study
- Pregnancy
- Breastfeeding of infant
- Food Allergies to: Gluten, Nuts, Chocolate, or Soy
- Currently on a diet to lose weight
- Diabetes
- History of eating disorder
- Healthy controls:
- Prior Diagnosis of MDD
- Unwilling/unable to comply with study
- DSM-5 diagnosis of Bipolar disorders, Cyclothymia, Schizoaffective disorder, Schizophrenia; any psychotic disorder or affective psychosis
