Brain Fog Following COVID-19 (SARS-COV-2 Infection)
Healthy COVID negative volunteers needed

Brief description of study

The purpose of this study is to examine whether or not individuals who were previously diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2, or COVID-19, have greater cognitive and biomarker changes over five years than those individuals who did not have COVID-19.

This is a prospective, observational, longitudinal cohort study (n=300) of the following groups:

  1. SARS-CoV-2 laboratory-positive patients who have new objective or subjective cognitive abnormalities within 12 months of SARS-CoV-2 infection;
  2. SARS-CoV-2 laboratory-positive patients without new cognitive findings within 12 months of SARS-CoV-2 infection; or
  3. SARS-CoV-2-negative patients who are cognitively normal.
Participants will have demographic and medical history collected, along with cognitive testing, blood testing, gait measurements, olfactory testing and a brain MRI. Participants will be tested every 12 months over the course of 5 years, and undergo a total of three brain MRIs. Each visit will last approximately 6 hours (interviews and cognitive testing) and each MRI is approximately 45 minutes.
Participants will be compensated $50 for travel expenses and an additional $75 for each completed MRI.
