A pilot study of Pro-rEsolving and pRo-inflammatory reSPonses to acute exhaustIve exeRcisE in healthy individuals

Brief description of study

Inflammation contributes to heart disease. Regular physical activity reduces the development of cardiovascular disease, but how exercise is protective is not well understood. The purpose of this study is to better understand how a short period of strenuous exercise affects different substances and cells in the body that are involved in inflammation. Understanding how exercise affects inflammation will help us develop better treatments for people with and at risk for developing heart disease. A short bout of exercise is the investigational method used in this study.
