Optimized sodium MR imaging at clinical field strength to study in vivo sodium signal in mild traumatic brain injury

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions:
    Mild Traumatic Brain Injury
  • Age: Between 18 Year(s) - 99 Year(s)
  • Gender: Male or Female
  • Other Inclusion Criteria:

    Patients Only:
    1. Male or female
    2. 18 years of age or greater and capacity to consent will be determined at the onset of the study by a clinical neurologist on the study team
    3. Any ethnic background
    4. Diagnosed MTBI injury within 3 months as confirmed by study team physicians

    Healthy Controls Only:
    1. Male or female
    2. 18 years of age or greater
    3. Any ethnic background

You may not be eligible for this study if the following are true:


  • Patients Only:
    1. Claustrophobia
    2. History of neurological, psychiatric disorder
    3. Cardiac pacemaker or neurostimulator
    4. Difficulty lying in supine position for 60 minutes
    5. Intracranial clips, metal implants, unremovable jewelry.
    6. Metal in eyes
    7. Pregnancy

    Healthy Controls Only:
    1. Claustrophobia
    2. History of neurological, psychiatric disorder or prior documented TBI
    3. Cardiac pacemaker or neurostimulator
    4. Difficulty lying in supine position for 60 minutes
    5. Intracranial clips, metal implants, unremovable jewelry.
    6. Metal in eyes
    7. Pregnancy
