IRON DEFICITS AND THEIR RELATIONSHIP WITH SYMPTOMS AND COGNITION IN PSYCHOTIC SPECTRUM DISORDERS

Brief description of study

Psychotic Spectrum Disorders (PSD) are severe mental syndromes associated with significant lifelong impairment and high prevalence. In this proposal we aim to employ non-invasive imaging technologies to test that deficiency in brain iron, an essential element for brain functioning, is a feature of PSD. The results of this study may provide new targets for treatments aimed at alleviating psychotic symptoms and cognitive dysfunction in PSD patients.
