Chronic Pain and Postoperative Cognitive Function in the Elderly: a Prospective Observational Study

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

Conditions:
Postoperative Cognitive Dysfunction
Age: Between 65 Year(s) - 120 Year(s)
Gender: Male or Female

Other Inclusion Criteria:
1. Adults aged >65 years
2. Undergoing major surgery–such as orthopedic lower extremity surgery
3. Pain free subjects OR subjects diagnosed with chronic pain prior to surgery (persisting pain > 12 weeks despite treatment)

You may not be eligible for this study if the following are true:

1. Pre-existing dementia and/or Alzheimer’s disease
2. History of schizophrenia
3. History of epilepsy
4. History of cerebrovascular accident (stroke, hemorrhage)
5. History of craniotomy
