Pilot for Dual Implant versus Single Implant Distal End of Femur (pDISIDE Femur)

Brief description of study

The overall study objective is to determine the difference in outcomes for patients over 60 years of age with a displaced distal femur fracture treated with dual distal femur implants (dual plate or IMN/plate) vs. a single distal femur plant (plate or IMN). Specific Aim 1 is to assess distal femur fracture patient study enrollment, randomization, or early clinical follow-up. Specific Aim 2 is to compare surgical factors, inpatient factors, and early post-surgical complications between patients receiving single and dual distal femur implant. Specific Aim 3 is to identify patient-centered outcome priority through stakeholder (patient, physician, physical therapist, etc) engagement.
