Asian American Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander cohort

Brief description of study

This study aims to test the feasibility of the study activities proposed for an upcoming Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AsA-NHPI) longitudinal cohort. The full study will be launched in late 2024. Over the coming year, we will recruit up to 40 participants who will pre-test the AsA-NHPI baseline survey, including linguistic/cultural adaptations in English, Chinese, and Korean. The questionnaire will cover topics such as participant health history and willingness to complete proposed full-study activities. Each document will be submitted to the IRB prior to use (in a later modification). The cohort will include self-identified AsA-NHPI volunteers age 18-65 from the NY Metropolitan area. The feasibility study will inform the development of the AsA-NHPI cohort protocol and procedures. NYU Grossman School of Medicine is one of five field centers for this NIH-NHLBI funded nationwide research. While the full study will be a multi-site study, the current study proposal is for a single-site feasibility study. After feasibility studies are completed at each field site, there will be a central IRB at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center.
