Treat-to-Target Serum Urate versus Treat-to-Avoid Symptoms in Gout: A Randomized Controlled Trial (TRUST trial)

Brief description of study

The purpose of this research study is to compare two different treatment strategies and see if they may improve the signs and symptoms of gout. The strategies are called treat-to-target and treat-to-avoid-symptoms. Both strategies are commonly used to treat patients with gout, and you may be given allopurinol, febuxostat, colchicine, naproxen, and/or prednisone by your study doctor throughout your study participation.

We also want to learn more about quality of life and how patients feel about their health and their ability to do the things they want to do.
