LINK-IT: Leveraging vIdeos and commuNity health worKers to address socIal determinants of health in Immigrants

Brief description of study

The research team led by Dr. Lu Hu at NYU Langone Health is conducting a study to understand whether a culturally and linguistically tailored diabetes program can help Chinese Americans manage their diabetes and prevent diabetes related complications.

The purpose of this research study is to learn about whether our diabetes education programs are helpful to lower blood sugar in Chinese immigrants with type 2 diabetes.

This study will last about 12 months and will involve about 3 visits conducted by phone. During each visit, you will be asked to answer questions. You will be assigned by chance to one of three groups. One group will receive brief diabetes videos each week for 24 weeks. A second group will receive these videos as well as access to a trained community health worker who will support to help you with your diabetes management. The third group will continue their usual care, but we will provide you with the brief videos at the end of the study.
