The effect of fatigue on biomechanical variables during single-leg jumping tasks in male and female dancers and athletes
Brief description of study
In this study, we are recording measures of measures of normalized electromyography (NEMG), kinetic, and kinematic data of the lower extremity during single leg jump landings. We are looking to enroll professional or high-level athletes and dancers, with an equal number of males and females. We ask subjects to perform horizontal, vertical, and drop jumps onto a force plate, as well as isometric strength testing, then repeat these tasks after undergoing a fatigue protocol. Data is analyzed for differences in the NEMG, kinetic, and kinematic measures between females and males and between dancers and athletes. Biomechanical analysis of these activity-specific jump landings with and without the effects of fatigue may inform future training and preventative models.
