Neurological Emergencies Outcomes at NYU

Brief description of study

The purpose of this research study is to (1) identify specific findings during the hospitalization and pre- injury that are associated with acquiring a hospital infection in patients with neurologic injury, and (2) determine the impact of hospital infections in patients with neurologic injury on life satisfaction and objective quality of life. This information may lead to the development of improved treatments and rehabilitation interventions which specifically address the needs of patients with neurologic injury. This study is looking to enroll individuals who have recently suffered a neurologic injury. Neurologic injury is sometimes associated with permanent physical, intellectual and emotional problems which affect basic activities of daily living and long-term "quality of life."
