Neuroeconomic investigation of craving in opioid addiction

Are you eligible to participate in this study?

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions:
    Opioid Use Disorder
  • Age: Between 18 - 60 Years
  • Gender: Male or Female
  • Other Inclusion Criteria:
    1. Current DSM5 diagnosis of opioid use disorder, moderate to severe (>3 criteria endorsed) as documented in subjects’ clinical charts.
    2. Reported urine sample (+) for opioids at admission into BHC's services.
    3. At least 12 month lifetime history of opioid use.
    4. Willingness to follow protocol requirements, as evidenced by an ability to provide written informed consent and to read, understand, and complete the study procedures in either English or Spanish

You may not be eligible for this study if the following are true:

    1. Serious psychiatric or medical disorder that would make study participation hazardous, or compromise study findings, or would prevent subjects from completing the study. Examples include: a. Severe, untreated or inadequately treated mental disorder (i.e. uncontrolled psychotic or affective spectrum illnesses, suicidal or homicidal ideation that requires immediate attention). b. Serious unstable medical illnesses requiring immediate attention or terminal medical illnesses (i.e. uncompensated heart failure, end-stage kidney or liver disease, end-stage AIDS).
    2. Contraindications to the MRI environment such as non-removable metal in the body including pacemakers, surgical aneurysm clips, known metal fragments embedded in the body including eyes, pregnancy, and claustrophobia. Note that this is not an exclusion criterion for the behavioral component of the study.
