Human Epilepsy Project 2: Resistant Focal Seizures Study

Brief description of study

The purpose of this study is to identify clinical characteristics and biomarkers predictive of disease outcome, progression, and treatment response in participants with treatment-resistant focal epilepsy. Treatment-resistant refers to continued seizures despite adequate medication trial. Biomarkers are an indicator of a disease or pathology. The study will involve providing blood for DNA/RNA/protein analyses, review of EEG and MRI findings, as well as questionnaires regarding your epilepsy treatment and other health issues, including disability, feelings of mood, depression, anxiety, feelings of embarrassment related to epilepsy, fatigue, sleep disturbance, anger, and quality of life.
