Heart Attack Research Program (HARP)

Brief description of study

This Multi-center study will enroll patients who have had a heart event (myocardial infarction – MI) who are referred for cardiac catheterization. The purpose of this study is to find the causes of heart damage in men and women with open arteries using images of the heart arteries (called optical coherence tomography or OCT) and the heart itself (called magnetic resonance imaging or MRI). By "open arteries", we mean arteries that are less than halfway blocked. In addition, the study will examine whether or not platelet (blood) and/or stress may be related to their heart event. Those who would like to participate in these sub-studies will have blood collected and complete stress questionnaires.
