A pilot randomized double-blind sham-controlled study of the combined effect of Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS) and physical activity on gait and functional mobility in participants with Multiple Sclerosis

Brief description of study

The purpose of this study is to see if transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) paired with a physical activity program (PA) can improve walking and mobility and lessen fatigue when combined in people with multiple sclerosis (MS). tDCS passes a mild electrical current (1.0 -2.5 mA) through electrodes placed on the scalp, positioned to stimulate targeted regions in the brain. The device used to administer the tDCS is called the Soterix 1x1 tDCS mini-CT. It is considered investigational because it is not approved or cleared by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This study may additionally collect pilot data to using electroencephalogram (EEG) recordings, as a quantitative assessment of the tDCS intervention.
