Identifying the Role of the Corticoreticulospinal Tract in Motor Recovery after Stroke

Brief description of study

The purpose of this study is to examine how the reorganization of a brain pathway (called the corticoreticulospinal tract) relates to motor recovery after stroke. The study uses a noninvasive brain stimulation technique called transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) to look at the changes in the brain. TMS uses magnetic pulses to test brain circuitry in a painless way. The TMS device (Magstim) is considered an investigational device because it is not cleared by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the use in this study, but can be used for research purposes. We also look at your brain’s anatomy using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
