Effect of A2AR Agonists on Osteogenic Potential of Stem Cells
Brief description of study
The purpose of this study is to conduct research on the stem cells of specimens that would otherwise be discarded during a plastic surgery operating procedure. We are recruiting subjects (aged 0 - 90 years old) undergoing standard of care reconstructive and/or cosmetic surgery by the NYU Department of Plastic Surgery in which skin, fat, cartilage or bone will be removed and discarded as part of the procedure. Stem cells be collected from the discarded tissue in a laboratory and exposed to a solution called dipyridamole in order to monitor any osteogenic effects. Osteogenic refers to any tissue concerned in bone growth or repair. No genetic research will be done with the specimens.
