Multi-Center Characterization of the Plasma Biomarker 24S-hydroxycholesterol (24HC) in Children with Developmental and / or Epileptic Encephalopathies

Brief description of study

The purpose of this study is to collect blood to measure the level of 24S-hydroxycholesterol (24HC) and the level of total blood cholesterol in children diagnosed with developmental and/or epileptic encephalopathies (DEE). Increased levels of 24HC produced in the brain may be related to seizure activity. This study is trying to determine if increased 24HC in the blood relates to increased seizure activity. This study will look at the relationship between 24HC levels in the blood and seizure frequency, the child's age and total cholesterol level.
