Are you eligible to participate in this study?

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

• Conditions:
  Prediabetes
  Non-insulin-dependent Diabetes Mellitus
• Age: Between 18 years - 99 years
• Gender: Male

• Other Inclusion Criteria:
  

  Aim 1:

  1. Black or African American subjects who work as barbers at Black-owned barbershops
  2. Subject's workplace is in neighborhood geographically identified as having higher diabetes burden
  3. Subjects have no prior history of clinical diagnosis of diabetes

  Aim 2:

  1. Black or African American subjects who work as barbers at Black-owned barbershops
  2. Subject's workplace is in in neighborhood geographically identified as having higher diabetes burden
  3. Subjects have no prior history of clinical diagnosis of diabetes
  4. Subjects are identified on initial point-of-care testing to have an HbA1c of 5.7 or greater

  Aim 3:

  1. Black or African American subjects who work as barbers at Black-owned barbershops
  2. Subject's workplace is in neighborhood geographically identified as having higher diabetes burden
  3. Subjects have no prior history of clinical diagnosis of diabetes
  4. Subjects are identified on initial and second point-of-care testing to have an HbA1c of 5.7 or greater

  
  

You may not be eligible for this study if the following are true:

• Aims 1,2,3:

  1. Subjects with a history of blood loss or blood disorder that would lead to incorrect results on point of care HbA1c testing
  2. Subjects with a history of food allergies that requires specific dietary restrictions
  3. Subjects who are not English speaking
  4. Subjects who have a significant cognitive impairment that will be a barrier to communication, valid consent and participation
