Remotely-supervised transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) for at-home treatment of fatigue and cognitive slowing in Parkinson s disease. A pilot study

Are you eligible to participate in this study?

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions:
    Parkinson Disease
    Fatigue
  • Age: Between 35 - 89 Years
  • Gender: Male or Female
  • Other Inclusion Criteria:
    1. Subjects who are between the ages of 35 and 89 years old
    2. Subjects diagnosed with PD confirmed by neurologist;
    3. Subjects who are able to understand the informed consent process and provide consent to participate in the study
    4. Subjects who have stable and continuous access to internet service at home compatible with the study laptop
    5. Subjects who have adequate internet capacity for remote monitoring
    6. Subjects who are stable in their PD medication for 2 or more weeks prior to enrollment

You may not be eligible for this study if the following are true:

    1. Subjects who have Visual, auditory and motor deficits that would prevent full ability to understand study instructions or operate the tDCS device or study laptop, as judged by treating neurologist or study staff
    2. Subjects with current chronic headaches or migraines
    3. Subjects with history of significant head trauma or medical device implanted in the head or in the neck
    4. Subjects with any skin disorder/sensitive skin which compromise the integrity of the skin at or near stimulation locations where electrodes are placed
    5. Subjects with serious uncontrolled medical condition
    6. Subjects with alcohol or other substance use disorder
    7. Subjects with pregnant or breastfeeding
    8. Subjects with history of dementia
