Developing Quantitative Rehabilitation

Brief description of study

A methodology development study using inertial measurement units and computational analyses to characterize the number and abnormality of upper extremity movements in stroke patients The study objective is to develop a new methodology that can identify upper extremity movements in rehabilitating stroke patients. The purpose of this study is to count the number and quality of movements the participant will be making during a mock session of therapy for their arms. The study will use noninvasive monitoring techniques, like sensors worn on the arms and videotaping, to count movements. The inertial measurement unit (IMU) device sensors worn on the body (to count movements) are not cleared by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), but can be used in a research study like this one.
