Platelet Activity and Vascular Health in System Lupus Erythematosus

Brief description of study

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a remarkably complex disease that poses several challenges to the clinician, including heterogeneity of presentation, undulating course, and elevated risk for premature cardiovascular disease (CVD). This study will bridge the relationship between platelets and vascular function, and shed light on the role of platelets as disease mediators. 200 patients with SLE (18 years and older) will be recruited. Many participants will be identified by those participating in the SAMPLE (Specimen and Matched Phenotype Linked Evaluation) database (S14-00487) who agreed to be contacted to be part of another study.
