Impact of time restricted feeding in obese subjects undergoing a low-calorie diet
Brief description of study
The most common strategies towards weight reduction have been focused on the imbalance of physical activity and calorie intake. However, “intermittent fasting,” a practice of alternating periods of eating and fasting has recently been studied to potentially improve obesity related problems, as well as promote weight loss. A new form of intermittent fasting has recently increased in popularity known as time restricted feeding (TRF). This involves eating only during certain times of the day. While a number of animal studies have looked at this, only a few studies of humans have been done. The purpose of this study is to understand the impact of time restricted feeding on a low-calorie diet and see if there are differences in rates of weight loss over the course of eight weeks.
